Resolutions are Crap

Happy 2010.
Yay! It's resolution time!
I have resolved to be a realistic resolutionist.
Like Gerald the Sheep. (Isn't he adorable?) I will only resolve to do the things I can.
I did manage to accomplish just about everything on my list last year. I decided I was too "driven".
I lost the ten pounds. I also found them again. (Sigh) I finished my master's degree. I stayed in my pajamas for at least two entire days. I sent out Holiday cards. I turned fifty. I went to the doctor and discovered that I had high blood pressure and an underactive thyroid. I survived the swine flu.
I have spent most of my holiday break trying to do nothing. It is wonderful! I have been painting. I have a solo show coming up in March. I am working on several paintings. The paint application is very thick with layers of paint. I have to wait at least three days between painting sessions. One of these days I will post them.
I'll get a round to it. If I don't. I don't. No worries.
I have resolved to relax.
I feel better already! Happy New Year to you all.

I like your attitude, Neetzy. I so need to get that whole relax thing down. Mind you, I must admit I spent quite a few more than two days in my jammies (don't tell anyone).

I can't wait to see your new artwork!

I really did laugh at the cartoon. That's exactly my sort of humour.

Relaxation is my focus this year. I am way too driven and for what? I feel so liberated in my jammies! Good luck Kat!

Shaz and Dive,

I'm liking this relaxation thing. Problem is, I need to photograph my paintings outside when it's sunny. What is that? I also need to find a dry spot. I'll have to post them as W.I.Ps. Otherwise, I'll never post them.

Happy New Year Neetzy! If we'd all just take better care of ourselves and the people we care about the world would be a much better place. Looking foward to the artwork.

Thanks Lulu,

This relaxation has been prompted by our friend Michael's illness. We visited him in the hospital. He had almost total organ failure after they started chemo. Everything but his brain and skin failed. Makes you appreciate the imperfect body you've got.

You always make me chuckle! Actually, I think I need to be more motivated, but I didn't actually resolve it (ha!). As for you, my goodness, getting your master's degree while teaching and raising a family? I don't know how you did it. Yes, this would be a good year to relax, you've earned it.

Thanks Janelle,

I am mentally exhausted. My school year has been tough as I am teaching eleven classes. My daughter is looking at colleges. When I get home, I just want to collapse into my easy chair!

I don't make resolutions because I suck at follow through.

Maria,

I hear you. This year I said WTF? The weight loss thing is getting redundant. Who cares?

My New Year resolution is not to make any!

I'm with you Winifred!

Hope your solo show will be a smashing success! I'm like you -no resolutions for the New Year! Instead of that, I decided to ENJOY MORE this year!
If I would have taken on your tack, I already had an adventure this year: a blackout! Haha - not the adventure I would have chosen, but it came out all right:)

Jeannette,

A blackout! Oh no! I hope your okay! I'll let you know how the show goes.
