Happy Days - Tube Tops in 1953

I didn't know they had tube tops in the fifties! Pictured here are my mother-in-law, Phyllis, (right), her older sister, Bernice. I am not positive of the identity of the man looking in the truck. He was either their father or grandfather. I do like the truck!

A family picnic with another sister (Bev?) and sister-in-law, Claire.

Phyllis and Bernice laughing it up for the Holidays!

Thanks for visiting! Dig up some Sinatra and Have One More for the Road!

Gosh, those 50s Christmas trees do conjure up a lot of memories. Fab pics. I didn't know there were tube tops back then, either!

What positively fun photographs! They all look like they are enjoying themselves quite a lot.

I have a picture of my mother in the early '50's wearing those exact same very strappy sandals, but convent girls didn't wear tube tops in those days. In the second photo, I love the way the little boy on the right is peering into the picnic bag.

Phyllis and Bernice certainly are a glamourous and fun-loving pair. Partying around the Christmas tree is such a happy shot.

Yes, it is the 50's. I like the truck too. They look like they all know how to have a good time.

Willow,
Good times. Good times! I thought tube tops were invented in the 70's.

Nancy, Those were the good old days!

Nana Jo, I do love those strappy sandals! These ladies were mommies! I think the little boy might be my brother-in-law! He was born in 1949!

Martin! Good times. Good memories! Relationships depreciated after that. You have to accentuate the positive and eliminate the negative!

Looking at these, Neetzy, I think I was born in the wrong decade. What fun they had!

Dive,
When I was in high school I used to look at my parents' high school yearbooks and think they looked dorky. Now I realize how stylish they were!

These are such great pictures. These ladies look like a lot of fun, and I love their shoes. I also didn't know there were tube tops in the '50s though.

Thanks Christine!

I promise I did not edit these with Photoshop! The second photo was darkened a little. The others should have been, but I didn't have the time!

I love the middle shot - would make a great ad for whatever was in those bottles. They are really joyful photos. Sorry I missed them last week.

Kat,

I have no idea what was in the bottles! Phyllis was not a drinker. She certainly did not like beer! (I fortunately never had that problem).
