Dublin "Chimbleys"

I found on my school computer a painting inspired by a photo taken from our hotel room in Dublin last summer (2007). I do not normally gravitate toward cityscapes as I am challenged by perspective and drawing straight lines. (At least one of my chimbleys are out of kilter!) I was however inspired by the beautiful soft evening light. This was about 10:00 p.m. on a June evening. My dad bought this painting from the Lancaster gallery where I used to exhibit. (I would have given it to him!) I had giclee prints made for Shazza and Monkeytooth.

Thanks Shazza,
I didn't think I had a copy. I was downloading some photos of my student teacher and found it on an old card. It isn't cropped well, but it give you the idea.

Barbara,
Thanks again. The skies of Ireland are amazing!

You really have caught the light perfectly, Neetzy.
I love the colours that low sunlight brings. One of the very few advantages of my seven hours a day commuting is that - other than six weeks or so either side of midsummer - I get to watch every single sunrise and sunset.
I wish I could paint what I see but even in a single sunrise there are a thousand different paintings in the hour before the sun peeps over the horizon; every single one different.

Dive,
I know what you mean. I drive to work during sunrise. I love the golden color. Sometimes I get so distracted I will crash!

I like this painting, as it depicts a very ordinary view in an extraordinary way.
Thank you for stopping by my place.:)

Hi, Anita,
Good to see your blogging. I can't believe that I also live in this gorgeous state of PA, and haven't made time to go out and enjoy the beaufy.
You asked if I went to the Harrisburg PAEA and I did not. I was lucky enough to get to the NAEA in New Orleans this year and really enjoyed it. I loved meeting the teachers from the TAB group. Its a type of teaching that I am very impressed with."Teaching for Artistic Behavior" Lots of info on the web.
Did you enjoy the Harrisburg convention?
